As summer kicks into full swing, the month of June brings a wealth of opportunities for homeschoolers to engage in learning and exploration. Whether you're looking for educational outings, nature-inspired activities, or ways to get a group of homeschooling families together during the summer months, there's no shortage of exciting opportunities. June 6th-8th: Heritage Skills USA Homesteading Summit @Vinton County Fairground [31471 OH-93 McArthur, OH {Hocking Hills Area}] – time: 9 AM-6 PM – ages: no age limits listed – price: dependent on number of classes

June 11th: Early Education: Fun on the Farm - Planting a Rainbow @Hale Farm & Village [2686 Oak Hill Rd. Akron, OH] – time: 10 AM-1 PM – ages: 2-5 years – price: $8 per child + 1 free adult {members}; $10 per child + 1 free adult {non-members}; $5 for each additional adult – Reserve your spot by calling (330)666-3711 ext. 1720 or emailing halereservations@wrhs.org.

June 15th: Father's Day Concert w/ Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra (a.k.a., DPO) @Carillon Historical Park [1000 Carillon Blvd. Dayton, OH] – time: noon-7PM – ages: all ages welcome – price: $14 per adult {18-59 years}; $12 per senior; $10 per child {3-17 years}; children 2 and under + members of Dayton History are admitted for free

June 17th-18th: Mentor Marsh Career Day @Cleveland Museum of Natural History [1 Wade Oval Dr. Cleveland, OH] – time: 9 AM-4 PM – ages: students entering, or already in high school – price: $75 - members receive a 10% discount

June 21st: Lorain County Metroparks Brickfest @Vermillion River Reservation [51211 N. River Rd. June 21st-22nd: Carillon Park Rail Festival @Carillon Historical Park [1000 Carillon Blvd. Dayton, OH] – time: 9:30 AM-5 PM on June 21st + 11 AM-4 PM on June 22nd – ages: all ages welcome – price: $14 per adult; $10 per child; children under 3 years old are free

June 30th: Teen Paddle Sports One-Day Skills Camp @Garfield Park Program Center, Garfield Park Reservation [11350 Broadway Ave. Garfield Heights, OH] – time: 9 AM-3 PM – ages: 13-15 years – price: $60

June-August: Summer Stay & Play @Squirrel Scout Outdoor School, Hartland Farm [2899 Lifer Ln. Lancaster, OH] – time: 10 AM-noon or 1 PM {parents' choice} – ages: 18 mos.- 10/11 years – price: $30 one-time deposit; $100 per month tuition {for 2 hours - ask about 3 hours}; $184 per month for 2 kids {for 2 hour option - ask about 3 hour option} (ask about 3 kid discount) {Note: I realize this event is a bit outside of NE Ohio, but it looks like a great way to get kids engaged in some outdoor learning, and might be a good opportunity for families to get away.}

June-September: Tram Rides @Lorain County Metroparks {various park locations - see website for more information} – time: varies depending on location – ages: all ages welcome – price: free; no registration required

Conclusion

Memorial Day weekend marked the beginning of summer fun in northeast Ohio, and June's homeschool-friendly events reflect the spirit of summer buzzing in the air. From museum exploration to outdoor learning and summer day-camps, northeast Ohio has it all when it comes to summer homeschool fun!
