Hello NEO Homeschoolers! It's a new year with so many new opportunities for exploration and learning, and after a long hiatus for my pregnancy - If you missed my life update, click here. - I'm ready to jump in with both feet this year! I've done my research and dug up what I believe to be some quality homeschool events for the month of January, so let's get started.
January Homeschool Events
Jan. 2nd-19th: Mystery Room @Canal Way Center, Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation [4524 E. 49th St. Cleveland, OH] – time: 10 AM-3:30 PM – ages: 7+ – price: $15 per group of 2-6 participants
Jan. 10th: Learn & Draw: Animal Skulls @North Chagrin Nature Center, North Chagrin Reservation [401 Buttermilk Falls Pkwy. Mayfield Village, OH] – time: 10-11 AM – ages: no age limits listed – price: free event
Jan. 13th: Map & Compass Snowflake Scavenger Hunt @Trailside Program Center, Brecksville Reservation [9000 Chippewa Creek Dr. Brecksville, OH] – time: 4-5 PM – ages: all ages welcome {note: Children between the ages of 0-17 must have a participating adult present at all times.} – price: free event
Jan. 15th: Homeschool Field Trip Day: Entrepreneurship @Cleveland History Center [10825 East Blvd. Cleveland, OH] – time: 10 AM-noon – ages: 3-18 – price: $8 for students; free for parents/guardians + children ages 0-2; $8 for parking flat rate paid at the Cleveland History Center before leaving {pre-registration highly recommended}
Jan. 19th: MLK Day Nature Play @Watershed Stewardship Center, West Creek Reservation [2277 W. Ridgewood Dr. Parma, OH] – time: 11 AM-3 PM – ages: all ages welcome – price: free event — ALSO: Winter Waterfall: sNOw School @Willis Picnic Area, Bedford Reservation [243 Willis St. Bedford, OH] – time: 11 AM-12:30 PM – ages: 6+ w/a participating adult – price: free event
Jan. 20th: Homeschool Family Day: Chill Out: How Animals Survive Winter @Greater Cleveland Aquarium [2000 Sycamore St. Cleveland, OH] – time: 10 AM-5 PM – ages: all ages welcome – price: $11 general homeschool students (ages 2+) & adults; free for passholders + guests younger than 2 — ALSO: Homeschool Introduction to Blacksmithing @Soulcraft Woodshop Inc. [5401 Hamilton Ave. Cleveland, OH] – time: 9:30 AM-12:30 PM – ages: 12+ – price: $108.55 {tickets selling fast}
Jan. 21st: Outdoor Adventures for Homeschoolers: Bow Drill @Trailside Program Center, Brecksville Reservation [9000 Chippewa Creek Dr. Brecksville, OH] – time: 10-11:30 AM – ages: students in grades 7-12 – price: no price listed – Registration required: opened Dec. 15th, closes Jan. 20th.
Jan. 27th: Homeschool Family Swim {recurring event: every 2nd + 4th Tuesday} @Sauder Village [22611 State Route 2 Archbold, OH] – time: 10 AM-noon – ages: all ages welcome – price: $10 per child/adult pair + $4 for each additional child {max of 3 children per adult} – Note: All children must be accompanied by a swimming adult. There will be no lifeguard on duty. – registration: call (419)445-6408 {limited spots available}
Conclusion
From outdoor exploration to arts & crafts, the month of January has a lot to offer our homeschool kiddos! I, personally, was quite thrilled with some of these finds and sincerely hope you are as well.
