Homeschool Curriculum Guide 2026

Hello and welcome back, NEO Homeschoolers! With back-to-school season in full-swing and many homeschool families looking at beginning a new school year, I thought now would be the perfect time to do a post sharing 20 homeschool curricula for you, my readers to consider as you begin the 2026 homeschool year. I'll try my best to let you know whether the curricula is Christian or secular, open-and-go or more planning intensive, and unit study or subject by subject. Ready to get started? Let's go!

Homeschool Curriculum Guide {Part 1}

Christian Homeschool Curriculum

1. Sonlight - open-and-go, preplanned, literature based curriculum
2. Master Books - open-and-go, preplanned curriculum w/ a focus on Christian apologetics
3. BJU Press - curriculum with a biblical worldview that offers both textbook and online learning for Pre-k through 12th grade
4. Apologia - written from a biblical perspective; incorporates hands-on learning + offers online options for students in preschool through high school
5. My Father's World - biblical worldview; family-focused approach with structured, prepared lessons for preschool through 12th grade
6. Abeka - Bible based curriculum with online options available and lesson plans that guide parents step-by-step for preschool through high school
7. Generations - education that focuses on teaching future generations about the Christian faith and strengthening young believers in their faith through each subject they learn
8. Not Consumed - Gospel-centered, family centric curriculum resources with a focus on simplicity and sharing God's Word.
9. Gather Round - open-and-go homeschool unit studies that cover all subjects with a focus on being able to teach multiple ages at the same time from a Christian worldview perspective
10. The Good & The Beautiful - open-and-go curriculum that focuses on creating an appreciation for God, family, nature, art, and literature through curriculum that offers structure and strong academics
11. Ambleside Online - Charlotte-Mason inspired curriculum that encourages kids to foster relationships with God, humanity, and the natural world

Secular Homeschool Curriculum

All right, 20 curriculum options... listed! As you go through the curriculum options above, I encourage you to remember that homeschooling isn't necessarily about finding the "perfect" curriculum - there's no such thing & I'm still learning this myself - but about finding tools that work well for your family and meet with your kiddos' interest and needs. Whether you lean towards a more structured learning environment or a more relaxed, hands-on learning environment, homeschool is about figuring out your family's rhythm and then finding the tools that work well with that. So, as another year of homeschooling begins and all of us homeschool moms (and dads) get back to planning field trips, lessons, read-alouds, etc., remember to enjoy the little moments that remind you why you chose to homeschool and trust your instincts when it comes to curriculum.
