NEO Homeschool Spotlight: Meet Oikos Homeschool Co-op of Lorain County

Hello and welcome back NEO Homeschoolers!! This post marks the start of another new series... "NEO Homeschool Spotlight." In this post series, I will be featuring - for free - various local homeschool co-ops, families, organizations, and businesses. The goal of this series is to introduce homeschool families in the Northeast Ohio region to local community and resources. For this first spotlight, I want to introduce a newer co-op in Northeast Ohio, Oikos Homeschool Co-op of Lorain County. New to Lorain County, Oikos is just getting started, and will be having interest meetings in the coming weeks, beginning on Friday, July 17th at 5:45 PM at the Avon Lake Church of the Open Door (address: 321 Lear Rd. Avon Lake, OH).

Run by the youth and young adult pastors of Church of the Open Door in Elyria, Oikos is Christ-centered and teaches a biblical worldview. They operate on the belief that "education flourishes when families grow together in faith, friendship, and learning." Their goal is to offer activities for all ages and to provide homeschool families in Lorain County with encouragement, friendship, and fellowship. The intent is to hold in-person, community days at the Avon Lake Church of the Open Door and to also have outdoor events at the homes of people willing to host the group.

As I mentioned above, Oikos is a new homeschool co-op, so there isn't much to share just yet. I've included the image from their Facebook post about Friday's interest meeting above, and will link to their Facebook page here. If you are interested in learning more, you can attend Friday's interest meeting and/or reach out through their Facebook page to request more info.

Overall, Oikos Homeschool Co-op of Lorain County looks to be a promising new addition to the plethora of homeschool co-ops in NE Ohio. I'm excited to see what this group becomes in the coming months and years. If you'd like more information on other co-ops in NE Ohio, click here to check out my Homeschool Co-op Listings directory page, and if you're searching for something fun to do to finish out the week, click here to check out this week's events post. For now, I'm signing off and going to do mom things, haha. Thanks for reading and happy homeschooling!! 😄

Don't leave yet...
