Summer Camps in NE Ohio
Hello and welcome back NEO Homeschoolers! Although the temperatures outside seem to indicate otherwise recently, summer is on its way to northeast Ohio, which means warmer temperatures are coming. With those warmer temperatures comes long, sunny days spent outside, sprinklers running, and of course, summer camps for our active kiddos. As with many things we turn to the internet for though, finding quality summer camps can be challenging. So, this post is dedicated to providing homeschool families with a list of quality summer camps for their kiddos to attend... if that's in your plans for this summer.
Summer Camps: NE Ohio
- Camp Curiosity @Great Lake Science Center [601 Erieside Ave. Cleveland, OH] – ages: students entering grades K-8 in the fall – time: week long sessions starting June 1st and running through Aug. 7th – price: grades K-2, 3-6, 4-6 = $350 per week or $325 per week for members; grades 6-8 = $400 per week or $375 for members
- Achievement Centers for Children's Camp Cheerful: The first recreational camp for children with disabilities, Camp Cheerful offers week-long sessions from June 8th-Aug. 14th for ages 5-22 and varying disabilities. Other summer camps also available, plus summer jobs for students interested in working with the special needs community. Located in Strongsville.
- Adventure Summer Camp @Adrenaline Monkey [26800 Renaissance Pkwy. Cleveland, OH] – ages: 4-12 – time: half-day: 9 AM-1 PM + 1-5 PM or full-day: 9 AM-5 PM – price: half-day = $300; full-day = $375 {Sorry, I know there were cheaper prices earlier... } – dates: week-long camps starting June 1st and running through Aug. 21st
- Tri-C Summer Camps: Creative Arts Academy for ages 4-18; Nuts & Bolts Academy for ages 11-17; Theatre Workshop for students in grades 9-12; JazzFest Academy for ages 12-18 – See linked website for more information on each of these camps.
- Beck Center for the Arts: Summer classes and camps offered for dance, music, and theater. See linked website for more details. – address: 17801 Detroit Ave. Lakewood, OH
- Bellweather Farm Summer Camps: Offered for kids ages 6-17 + families. Week-long, overnight camp where kids grow in confidence, creativity, and connection through activities such as cooking, farming, archery, canoeing, hiking, field-games, and nature-based art. – address: 4655 State Route 60 Wakeman, OH
- Camp Fitch YMCA: Week-long, summer camp experiences featuring themes such as Flagship, Leadership Development, Adventure Trips, Health Focus, Equestrian Focus, Tech Focus, and Farm Focus. Camps focus on providing kids with a holistically safe community where they can discover friendship and achievement; feel like they belong; and grow in Christian values. North Springfield, PA {Note: This camp is not in NE Ohio, but it receives such high quality reviews, I decided to include it here.}
- Camp JCC: Week-long day-camps in Akron, OH running from 8 AM-3:30 PM. Option of adding aftercare from 3:30-5:30 PM for 3 {price: $110 per week} or 5 {price: $150 per week} days. - Chagrin Valley Little Theatre 3-Week Summer Intensive: Summer camp offered for students in grades K-8 with a love for theater. Camp starts June 8th, and ends June 25th. Camp runs from 9 AM-2 PM daily, 5 days a week {i.e., Monday-Friday}. – cost = $600 registration + $15 a piece for tickets {students receive 2 free tickets each} – show dates: Friday, June 26th @7 PM, Saturday, June 27th @2 & 7 PM, + Sunday, June 28th @2 PM – address: 40 River St. Chagrin Falls, OH
- Summer Camps @Cleveland Playhouse [location varies depending on camp of choice] – Arts Exploration Camp for grades K-5: A perfect place for young, aspiring artists to explore their passions and develop skills. Offers vibrant, hands-on environment where kids dive into acting, music, movement, and visual arts in a fun, confidence-building way. – Theatre Immersion Camp for grades 6-12: An immersive theatre experience that invites pre-teens & teens to explore theatre in-depth. Students enrolled will be placed on a learning track based on experience & readiness, and will receive daily, focused training in voice, musical theatre, movement, technical theatre, stage management, and design. Perfect camp for aspiring actors/actresses & theatre enthusiasts who want to explore the possibility of a career in theatre.
- Cleveland Metroparks Summer Camps: Nature Camps for kids ages 4-17 offered at various nature centers across the Metroparks with specific camps for preschoolers {ages 3-5} offered at certain locations. Zoo Summer Day Camp for kids ages 5-14 offers the opportunity to connect with wildlife through fun, educational activities during week-long, day-camp experiences at the zoo. Golf camps offer kids ages 6-18 the opportunity to develop skills or discover a new hobby for $200. Week-long, day-camps start June 6th, and run through September 17th. Ages and times vary, so be sure to check each camp's description for more information.
- Falcon Camp [Camp Main Office 4251 Delta Rd. SW Carrollton, OH] – Offers summer programs for kids ages 6-16 in 2, 4, 6, or 8 week sessions. Campers live in cabins during camp and learn/develop skills from experienced counselors. See linked website for more information and to register.
- Jumpstart Sports Camps: Offered in locations across NE Ohio. Preschool camps offered in specific locations. See linked website for more information and to register.
- Hawken School Summer Programs: Campers ages 3-17 explore sports, arts, drama, dance, and music in age-appropriate ways. See linked website for more information on individual camps and to register for the one that best suits your kiddo.
- Girl Scouts Summer Camp Experiences: Camps offered for grades K-12 in a variety of forms {e.g., overnight, day camp, one day programs, core camp, etc.} with a variety of themes. See linked website to find your child's best fit and register.
- Lake Erie Nature & Science Center Summer Camps: Nature Nuts (Summer) for ages 3-6 {waitlist available}; Log Cabin Camps for ages 5-7 {waitlist available}; STEM Camp Level 1 for ages 7-9 {waitlist available}; STEM Camp Level 2 for ages 10-12 {waitlist available}; Beyond STEM Camp for ages 13-16; Rocket Camp for ages 10-16 – See linked website for more information and to register.
- Talespinner Children's Theater Summer Camps: Week-long camps for kids in preschool through 9th grade. Camp runs from 9 AM-4 PM with before and after-care available. Weekly themes include: Kick-Off Camp, Spy Camp, Musical Theater, and Comedy Camp. Youth Production Camps available for kids ages 4-18. See linked website for more information and to register.
- Snapology Summer Camps: Robotics & STEM camps for kids ages 5-12. Camps run in 5-day sessions {Monday to Friday} and are either full- or half-day. Different camps have different age limits, so make sure to check ages listed before registering. See linked website for more information and to register.
- Progress with Chess: Full and half-day chess camps for chess players of all skill levels. Campers receive individual attention in small groups of 10 or less divided by age and skill level. Experienced instructors provide chess activities including interactive lessons, puzzle contests, giant chess, and open play among others. Camp pricing varies a little by location. Camps located in Lakewood, Rocky River, Westlake, Solon, Beachwood, and Hudson.
- Westside Gymnastics: Summer camps for gymnastics enthusiasts ages 5+. Camps run Monday through Thursday from 9 AM-3:30 PM. Each camp session has a different theme with preschool camps for gymnasts ages 3-5 also available. Located in Copley, OH. Well, NE Ohio certainly has a lot to offer when it comes to summer camps. From overnight camps to day camps for chess lovers, NE Ohio has it all meaning this summer is sure to be anything but boring for our homeschool kiddos.
